Blizzard Announces the Upcoming Release of the Remastered Diablo II: Resurrected for PC and Consoles Coming This Year
The remaster will include the base game as well as Lord of Destruction, the expansion pack for the original game.
The remastered version of the game transfers the original 2-D sprites and converts them to full 3-D physically based render, dynamic lighting, revamped animations and spell effects.
Even the classic cinematics are being redone.
In addition, the audio for the game has been reworked to support 7.1 Dolby Surround.
“Diablo II was a pivotal game for Blizzard and millions of players around the world. With Diablo II: Resurrected, we’re excited to bring this classic back to PC and also to consoles—with cross-progression on supported platforms—so that players can relive their memories, or experience Diablo II’s timeless gameplay for the first time, on their platform of choice,” said J. Allen Brack, president of Blizzard Entertainment. “With the new high-resolution audio and video in Diablo II: Resurrected, the game is as fun and engrossing today as it was twenty years ago.”
For those who would prefer a classic run through the game again players will have the ability to switch back and forth between remastered and original graphics with the press of a button.
Diablo II: Resurrected will include all the original classic classes and contents including The Amazon, Barbarian, Necromancer, Paladin, Sorceress and the expansion classes of Druid and Assassin.
